Hello! SaraL here, with a hybrid post on the final day of a really soggy April, here in the UK!
It was my wedding anniversary last week, and I decided to make a slightly adventurous card for me… with a little help from the awesome templates of Ms Heather Roselli of course!
Heather recently released this set of pop-up templates, DIY Printable Templates: Pop-Up ABCs

I decided to have a play and see if I could combine several pop-ups in one card – and I was 95% successful I think! Here’s the inside of my card:
It was made using the DIY Printable Templates, plus Heather’s Under The Boardwalk digital scrapbook kit.
Here’s the outside for you to see too – fairly neutral so it would suit my husbands tastes, but still pretty enough for me to enjoy too
Now I said 95% successful – this is because after making it I noticed a couple of niggles that I plan to correct next time I make a similar card:
- Firstly, I will ensure that the pop-up flaps are printed with the background paper – see how they stand out ‘cos they’re sooo plain & white?
- Secondly, I need to double-check the spacing between the letters/ characters more accurately before sticking. Do you see the heart is too close to the ‘u’?
- Finally, I should have played around a little more with the heart I substituted for a letter because if you try to close the card, it doesn’t neatly lie flat, as the flaps for the heart are a little too short.
Having just pointed out all my mistakes, I would like to add that I am actually very tickled at how well this first attempt at a pop-up card went – especially as I chose to modify Heathers precise measurements myself!
I will definitely have another play with pop-ups & will try substituting shapes for letters again I have no doubt! Hummm, maybe I need to pester Heather to make a coordinating DIY Printable Templates Add-On, with simple shapes such as hearts, clouds & flowers! What do you think?
‘til next month,
Sara
