Firstly, have you been giving the monthly portfolio challenges over in the Sweet Shoppe forum a go? They’re a great source of ideas to get your creative juices flowing, to encourage you to create a layout or even something hybrid which maybe is a little outside your usual style, whilst earning points at the same time which could add up to a rather nice discount in the store!
I like this month’s 10 point hybrid challenge, which was simply to play with buckets or tins! You could make a gift presentation (its amazing how much you can get into a reasonably sized bucket!), or maybe a sweet storage solution for your craft room or child’s bedroom – there are so many directions to take this idea, and I’ve another possible one to share with you today:
This is a simple tobacco tin, decorated with Heather’s fun Bumps ‘n Bruises making it into a perfectly sized First Aid kit for your bag or your child’s backpack if they’re off on an expedition with the Scouts or school!
After cleaning up the tin, I measured the dimensions for the top and the sides, then prepared files in Photoshop to match these measurements. I had fun playing with the images & papers from the kit – adding a speech bubble from My World According to Me and the sentiment too – then printed & cut the whole lot out, and stuck them in position on the tin.
You could consider using Mod Podge or even sticky-backed plastic to make the decoration more permanent.
The tin is now ready to fill with medicated wipes, Elastoplasts, mini dressings – even a card with emergency contact details perhaps!
Finally, how about that FREEBIE?? I’ve made a ready-to-print card for you to download, which is nice & generic enough to be for a friend’s birthday, or even a fun thank you.
This card was made using another of Heather’s lovely recent releases: My World According to Me.
After printing, simply crease & fold the 5x5in. card in half. You can then use it as it is, or do what I’ve done in my photo example below, and add a little something to make it uniquely from you: pop on some buttons, sequins, glitter, anything you choose!
